Can You Actually Hear God? (Or Are You Just Talking to Yourself?)

 “I know you.”

Let’s be real—we talk a lot about God. We read books, we watch sermons, we even post scripture on our feed.

But are we actually hearing Him?

Jesus didn’t say, “My sheep read my Instagram posts.”

He said:

“My sheep hear my voice. I know them. They follow me.” (John 10:27)

That’s not poetry. That’s a promise.

And if that’s true, then…

Why does His voice feel so hard to recognize sometimes?

Is it drowned out by the noise? The hustle? The church drama?

Or maybe we’re too busy asking for signs when He’s already speaking through the Word, His Spirit, or that holy gut check that keeps you up at night.

Here’s what I’ve learned:

Hearing God isn’t about being “super spiritual.” It’s about relationship. Intimacy. Obedience. It’s trusting that He’s not playing hide-and-seek with your future.

And get this—Jesus doesn’t just say we can hear Him.

He says: “They will never perish. No one can snatch them out of my hand.”

That’s insane. That’s security you can’t lose.

You’re not just listening. You’re held.

BOTTOM LINE:

God is speaking.

The question is—are we still enough to hear it… and bold enough to follow?
