Good News In GreshaM, OREGON

Living on mission, locally and globally.

This week I got an up-close-and-personal look of what a modern day missional church looks like. Every other month or so I have the privilege of spending time with churches around the nation to talk about what it looks like to partner for Safe and Living Water for rural communities and people in the greatest need.

This weekend I excitedly boarded a Boeing aircraft from Central Arkansas Saturday afternoon for Portland, Oregon and ultimately to a church in Gresham who has made the decision to join in the effort to bring the light and make a impact in the mission to solve the global water crisis and share God’s love.

Cornerstone Chruch of Gresham OR hosts first Water Sunday in an effort to invest in Safe and Living Water for Tanzania. Sunday, Dec 3 we visited the church and shared about the global water crisis and also about the 3 billion people who do not yet know of Jesus! Next Sunday, December 10 the church will meet to give an offering to go to support where most needed in Tanzania.

We are grateful for the elders and leadership of Cornerstone for Pastor Skyler and the loving people who call this church home.

While visiting we learned of the unique call and vision to make disciples both locally and globally by supporting missionaries and mission organizations who are sharing the gospel. And this is possible because the church has intentionally decided to not build a permanent building but to continue meeting in a middle school gym as they have for more than 20 years.

This weekend confirmed the power of God and unity of His people through Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit.

During the service we were able to share an encouraging scripture from a recent visit to a local church in Honduras that recently commissioned their first water project.  This is from a child who has received safe water and living water provided at the christian school.

“Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity!” Psalm 133:1

“I was truly inspired by the love and generosity of Cornerstone Church and the clarity of mission to reach others with the life-changing reality of Jesus Christ. It was an honor to share the good news and impact of how God is using Water Mission to reach more for Christ. 13,000 more in this year alone. And 8 million with safe water over the last 20+ years.”
